OWEN ROSS IS A PRODUCER, SONGWRITER AND MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST BASED IN BERLIN

Owen Ross is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer and producer.  After studying guitar and synthesis at Berklee College of Music, Ross spent years as a touring guitarist.  He was playing and writing many styles of music with an emphasis on Soul, R&B, Gospel and Hip Hop music.  In 2011, two new creative avenues opened up for Ross.  He moved to Brooklyn where he began writing and playing music with some of the most talented singer songwriters in America.  He also was exposed to a wide range of experimental music and began integrating ethereal samples and unorthodox techniques into his music production.  Since then Ross has toured the US and Europe as a solo artist and released 3 EPs under the name "Goste."  In a review in The Huffington Post, Morena Duwe wrote: "His sound is a fusion of opposites: delicate and dissonant, ethereal and nebulous, sensual and forlorn, organic and electronic.  Goste's tracks reflect the duality within the human spirit.  He takes us on a journey through his mind as he artfully connects his lyrics with skillful wordplay."  Ross recently finished his first full length album which will be released under the name Owen Ross in 2017.

The combination of his experimentation with electronic sounds and his aptitude for musical composition creates a striking sonic experience. He mixes formal song and lyric structure with a hint of avant garde. Singing all of his own tracks, a rarity in the electronic world, his smokey voice adds an intimate element to his music. The sultry, throaty tone of his voice is reminiscent of classic blues singers, projecting raw emotion with each note.... Slow, broken beats paired with haunting vocals, profound lyrics and prismatic tones sends a chilling vibration through the nervous system. Music that can evoke an involuntary physical reaction can only come from the brain of a deeply connected individual.
— The Huffington Post

His approach has few precedents in the electronic genre - rather than embracing sampled passages as the anchor of his material, [Ross] is unafraid to place his own surprisingly soulful vocals out front. Moreover, his subject matter reaches far beyond the traditional limits of electronica. This relatively fresh take on the genre smacks of the visionary. Any form destined to last needs mavericks who arrive on the scene determined to stretch its parameters and take the audience with them.
— Music Emissions

Unusual deconstruction of the folkiest of instruments doesn’t diminish the authenticity of [Ross’s] songs, but contributes to creating a very personal style, that still sounds as folk as a man with a real acoustic six string.
— The Deli NYC

...one of the most beautifully searing guitar solos I have heard in a very long time, paired nicely beside big open drum fills and more electronic madness.
— Geyser Music

Hauntingly cinematic is a fine way to describe [Ross], but somehow, you would still be missing something.... Occasionally, when combining two opposites you arrive at a positive. This is true for [Ross] who sees the world on his own bleak terms, carving an uncompromising niche for himself.
— Vellum Artzine

...an emotional mountain range that you’ll want to prepare for ahead of time...
— The Wild Honey Pie

Creativity in music truly knows no bounds... [Ross] has created his own brand of something special.
— The Future FM

Instead of booming beats or generic samples, [Ross is an] electronic artist who keeps it fresher than farmer’s spinach...with moody, dream-like soundscapes and original vocals.
